Our websites are custom coded by hand which allows for simpler customizations, lower maintenance and a performance centered approach. No page builders, wordpress, plugins or templates to learn or manage, and certainly none of the bloat.
If you are weighing the options, we compared WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and custom sites on cost, speed and what each one actually locks you into.Speed, On Mobile First
53% of mobile users leave a website that takes longer than 3 seconds to load, and a 2 second delay increases bounce rates by 103%. Our custom websites load in ~1 second. This type of performance is very difficult and in many cases impossible to achieve with bloated page builders like Wordpress or WIX. It matters most on a phone: 60% of online traffic comes from mobile devices, so we build the mobile version first to make sure it looks right on the smallest screens, then scale up from there. Search engines like Google prioritize high-performing mobile sites in their rankings, so the same work that keeps a visitor on the page is the work that helps them find it. We put the numbers behind that in what a slow site actually costs in lost revenue.
Secure by Default
Page builders like Wordpress, WIX or SquareSpace rely on backend servers to dynamically generate content for a website. This content is stored in a database and rendered on-the-fly as a user accesses the page. In addition to the impact on performance that comes with dynamic rendering, security is also a concern due to databases, plugins and other backend services being a common target for security vulnerabilities like SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS). Our custom coded websites are built to be static. That means the website is pre-rendered up-front before a user visits it, so all the server needs to do is hand them a direct copy of the content. This is FAST, but it’s also secure. There is no server-side code running to generate content on-demand which reduces the attack surface and limits potential entry points for hackers. Without databases and dynamic content, there is also no need to handle sensitive data or user input, further reducing security risks. Our custom websites offer a simpler, more predictable environment that is inherently less susceptible to many of the security threats that come as a byproduct of using page builders like Wordpress or WIX.
A Site That Grows With You
Our custom coded websites are future-proof because of just that, they’re custom coded. We have full control over every line of code written and every pixel placed, which means easier updates and adaptations as design trends, technologies and Google algorithms evolve. Unlike page builder sites built on Wordpress or WIX that rely on plugins or third-party platforms susceptible to obsolescence, our sites can be adjusted directly to incorporate new features, optimize for emerging web standards and stay compatible with the latest browsers and devices. That same control is what makes a site convert: we design it to grab the visitor’s attention, guide them through a tailored journey and lead them to strategically placed calls to action, with a design focused on earning trust and reducing friction.
Better Ranking, Including on Maps
Our custom coded websites rank better on search engines like Google because they’re built with that goal in mind from the start. We eliminate unnecessary code and features which results in faster load times – this is a significant factor in Google’s ranking algorithm. Two websites with similar content but different speeds rank differently on Google. Building a site from scratch also grants us detailed control over meta tags and code structure, which are used by Google to help understand and rank the site more effectively. The same factors apply to local and map results, which people usually see on a phone, so speed and a mobile-first layout matter even more there. The listing that sits beside those results is a separate job: Google Business Profile setup.
